Community and social responsibility is at the heart of what we do at Mahogany Roots. The Mahogany Roots idea was born out of a need to serve the youth of Oakland, CA in a greater way. Mahogany Roots CEO, La Tronda Lumpkins is the Founding Director of Pivotal Point Youth Services, Inc. Pivotal Point has spent the last ten years providing employment training, vocational skills development and entrepreneurship training to at-risk youth in Oakland, CA and Alameda County. Realizing that economic empowerment is essential in order to lift the community out of multi-generational poverty, Mahogany Roots was started as a platform to teach self-sufficiency through entrepreneurship to at-risk youth. We wanted to create a product that people needed while filling a gap in the marketplace for an all-natural product line designed to not just be good for you but also do good. The Youth we serve are directly involved in the production of some Mahogany Roots products as well as distributing, marketing and selling the products. We know that our success means nothing if we can’t directly benefit the community that supports us, so in addition to training opportunities, we make annual direct contributions to Pivotal Point Youth Services in support of its mission.

Mahogany Roots is set to provide hundreds of jobs in the Oakland and Bay Area community by manufacturing the products directly in the community. Additionally we are committed to providing a sustainable all-natural skin and body experiencecreating products free of alcohol, parabens, phthalates, sulfates and petroleum/mineral oil based products. As always, our products are never tested on animals and are produced with environmental sustainability in mind.
